What is Iridology?

Iridology is the study of the Iris. By observing the markings and colorations in the iris an iridologist can see how tissues and organs are functioning. The iris contains nerve fibers which respond to changes in the body via the central nervous system and brain through the optic nerve. Example: a person begins to have blood sugar problems and their pancreas is compromised. The central nervous system (the main system which links information from the body to the brain) gathers this information, sends it to the brain where it is downloaded, from the brain it is then sent through the optic nerve to the eye where it shows up as an orange pigment. Reading the iris is like looking at a computer screen. Everything recorded by the brain is projected onto the eye and a trained iridologist knows how to read the information.

It is truly a holistic health tool as it allows insight into the entire body, rather than segments of it. When we have degeneration happening in one area of the body, other areas of the body have to compensate. When one organ is weak it relies on another organ to help pick up the load, overburdening that organ and creating weakness in it as well. Example: a person has bladder problems and after seeing several allopathic specialists, comes up with no answers or explanations, to the frustrating end of “some people just have abdominal pain.” An iridologist knows that the sister organs to the bladder are the kidneys, which are weak. After a an implementation of diet and herbs to treat kidney weakness, the bladder issues dissolve on their own, as the cause root of those issues were struggling kidneys.

Iridology has been used in many parts of the world in many cultures, even dating back to BC times. Iridology became widely known in the United States through the work of Dr. Bernard Jensen in the 1950’s, and is currently a common practice used by MD’s in Europe and Russia.

  • Levels of health or degeneration of all body organs, organ systems, glands, and tissues
  • Inflammation, local or systemic
  • Nutritional needs of the body, how we assimilate nutrients
  • Acidity in the body
  • Signs of healing/changes in the body
  • Body constitution (strengths and weaknesses), or in other words how we’re made up: inherited physical characteristics, including mode of system functions, how we react to stimuli, how we metabolize, power of resistance to the attack of pathogens, etc.
  • Build up of toxins
  • Immune system function
  • Stress
  • Preclinical areas or conditions that may be leading to disease
  • What type of diet a person has
  • Effects of one organ on another

Diagnose disease. The language of the body does not label disease with names. The iris only depicts stages of health, degeneration, inflammation, and over activity. Example: a person has been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver, an iridologist cannot look at an iris and say “you have cirrhosis of the liver.” An iridologist can look at the iris and see only that the liver is compromised and (generally) to what degree, and if this degeneration may be affecting other areas of the body.

Iridology can be used by anyone at any age or level of health, for correction or prevention. It can be great for people who have imbalances and are seeking holistic natural treatment, or for those who are having difficulty finding answers with traditional western medicine.

It can be used as an early warning measure, revealing the beginnings of degeneration before any symptoms are noticed and correction can be easily achieved. It is a wonderful system for children, keeping their health in check as they develop. Iridology can be a valuable resource for those interested in seeking answers and preserving their health.

Having an iris analysis done is painless and non-invasive. A photograph of each eye is taken with a special iridology camera, and a detailed health consultation is used to confirm and expound on the information taken from the iris reading. Strategies for your health goals are created based upon the iris analysis and if you would like to continue to work with me, follow up appointments can be scheduled to keep your goals on target. Diet & lifestyle changes, herbs, homeopathy, cleansing, and bodywork are some of the options we will explore while designing a program tailored to your needs, capabilities, and budget.
